Sumatra is one of the few Indonesian islands that has coffee production (also the largest).
Ari Ara’s Awali Woman Cooperative is the only producer group in Gayo’s highlands run by women. 314 family farms merged in 2016 and formed the organic cooperative, with the aim of improving the living conditions of their families. The community in the cooperative means that the members learn from each other, they grow better coffee and at the same time have managed to create a story that engages.
Their coffee is in every way classically Indonesian in both taste and aroma; it is powerful, full-bodied and wonderfully flavorful.
